This scheme included the refurbishment of the existing secure area within Lower Chichester Street and the introduction of a new designated bus route. Piled foundations were installed for new feature lighting and green areas of raised lawn were created with semi-mature trees and walled seating. The realignment of kerb lines and a new natural granite carriageway comprised approximately 1,000m² of granite paving, 2,200m² of Caithness, and 400m of new granite wall copings. The old security bollards and facilities were demolished and new mechanical and electrical installations completed.
This award winning space is now modern, well lit, functional and popular, and provides a pedestrian link from the city centre to the river side.
