Toome Bridge

Toome, N Ireland
| Client | DRD Roads Service - Northern Division |
| Value | £19 m Target Cost |
The Toome Bridge provides the link over the River Bann for the A6 Toome Bypass. The 1,600 tonne bow string arch was designed and build by FP McCann as part of the £19m Toome Bypass contract. Substantial temporary river piled supports were used to enable the bridge deck to be assembled insitu before the arch and hanger supports. The bridge is an iconic symbol of the area, it is used by over 20,000 vehicles a day, admired by many, and recently won the Belfast Telegraph public vote for the most significant construction project in Northern Ireland completed within the last 10 years.
