Easi-Safe Cover Slabs
FP McCann has developed a new manhole cover slab with integrated safety access cover. With standard cover slabs the access point for man entry is open and it is left to the contractor to cover on site.
In many cases during construction where gangs of workers will complete tasks in specific phases the access point can remain open for a length of time during the construction leaving a hazardous fall potential. As a responsible manufacturer FP McCann has addressed this issue and plan to produce all standard access cover slabs with an optional protective grid which will remain in the slab even when the final D400 steel cover and frame are set in place at cover level.
Prototypes of the design have been made to date with the new product launch expected in March / April 2010 when all modifications have been made and the manufacture process has been put in place.
